Haaland receives ‘last-minute’ approach in warning to Man City, as star’s preference emerges

Erling Haaland has reportedly received a ‘last-minute’ approach from Real Madrid, in a major warning to Manchester City, while the star’s transfer preference has also been revealed.

Haaland appears set to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer, when his £63million release clause becomes active. A deal will cost far more than this, though.

Reports claim it will take a total outlay of up to £300m to sign the Norway striker. That includes a potential five-year contract and Mino Raiola’s huge agent fees.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern have previously been in the mix for Haaland’s services. But it is now the powerhouse trio of Manchester City, Real and Barcelona who are fronting the race.

90Min claim Pep Guardiola’s side are working on a plan to pay for the goalscorer in instalments, rather than a lump sum.

However, they may have to get their act together if they want to win the race for him. According to Spanish outlet Sport, Real have made a ‘last-minute’ move to capture Haaland.

This is despite Los Blancos having the in-form Karim Benzema in their squad and pursuing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Real president Florentino Perez is ready to go big so the club can continue their success next season. They are favourites to win La Liga and are also in the four of the Champions League.

A separate report also provides an update on Haaland, and it is more positive news for the Citizens. As per German outlet Bild, Guardiola has ‘given the green light’ for his team to sign the 21-year-old.

Phil Foden is enjoying a great campaign in the false nine role, but his manager seemingly wants a powerful centre-forward to spearhead his attack in the future.

And City are boosted by the fact Haaland ‘wants to go’ to the Etihad.
