Gunnar Henderson Debuts Very Cool ‘Star Wars’ Themed Bat For May The 4th (Be With You)

It's May the 4th today, which means one thing for many movie fans: Star Wars Day. "May the force (May the 4th) be with you," of course, aligning with the day of the year.

And apparently, Baltimore Orioles star Gunnar Henderson is one of those who enjoys celebrating the film industry's biggest movie franchise.

Henderson debuted an amazing themed bat from his sponsor company, Chandler Bats. Complete with a lightsaber style handle, red saber design down one side of the barrel, and Darth Vader theming. The other side is a blue saber look, with Luke Skywalker and Yoda imaging.

Pretty damn cool!

The 22-year-old shortstop is having a monster season, hitting .279/.345/.581 for a 163 wRC+, 63 percent better than the league average. Henderson's added 10 home runs and six steals, while adding excellent base running and playing elite defense at the toughest position on the field.

Put it all together and he's been worth 2.1 WAR for the Orioles through the first six weeks of the season. That'll work.

Baltimore's jumped out to a 21-11 start, good enough for first place in the tough American League East. And with Henderson playing this well, and clearly enjoying himself, there's a case to be made that they're AL favorites. Times are good in Baltimore.
