Groin injury keeps Darragh Lenihan sidelined for Blackburn

Republic of Ireland defender Darragh Lenihan has not recovered from the groin injury that forced him to pull out of the recent international friendlies and will be absent for Saturday's Championship clash with Coventry City.

The 26-year-old was named in Stephen Kenny’s squad for the draw with Belgium and victory over Lithuania in the friendly double-header, but was forced to withdraw owing to injury, with QPR’s Jimmy Dunne called in as a replacement.

The Meath centre-half has made 38 appearances for Rovers this season in a Blackburn side hoping to maintain their promotion push, currently occupying sixth spot in the table ahead of the trip to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Lenihan made his bow in a 2-1 friendly win against the USA in June 2018 with his second cap, and to date last appearance, coming five months later in a 0-0 draw with Northern Ireland.
