Grenfell Tower report LIVE as document published seven years after deadly fire

The long-awaited report into the Grenfell Tower fire which killed 72 people has been published.

The report into the blaze, which happened seven years ago, concluded that the deadly fire was the result of “decades of failure” by government and the construction industry to act on the dangers of flammable materials on high-rise buildings

Inquiry chairman Sir Martin Moore-Bick also said that the tower block in west London was covered in combustible products because of the “systematic dishonesty” of firms who made and sold the cladding and insulation.

Sir Martin said: “We conclude that the fire at Grenfell Tower was the culmination of decades of failure by central government and other bodies in positions of responsibility in the construction industry to look carefully into the danger of incorporating combustible materials into the external walls of high-rise residential buildings and to act on the information available to them.”

The Grenfell Tower fire happened between June 14 and 16 2017. Seventy people died at the scene, and 2 people died later in hospital, with more than 70 injured and 223 escaping
