Gregoria Mariska Withdraws from Swiss Open After Testing Positive for Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s single badminton representative in the Swiss Open 2022, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, has officially withdrawn from competing in the Super 300 tournament after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) head of development and achievements Rionny Mainaky said Gregoria had already complained about her health since the All England, where she faced South Korea’s An Seyoung. 

“She experienced fever on March 20 and a sore throat,” Irony wrote in a PBSI press statement on March 22. 

The badminton athlete that ranks 27th in the world is currently undergoing Covid-19 quarantine at Birmingham and is accompanied by PBSI doctor Grace Joselini Corlesa.

The Swiss Open is scheduled to be held from March 22 up to March 27 at St Jakobshalle, Basel, where she was initially scheduled to face Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
