Greggs Drive-Thru opens its doors at new Bolton site

A much-anticipated Greggs Drive-Thru has opened its doors in Bolton.

It's the bakery chain's second branch of its kind in Greater Manchester and is based in Bridgewater Avenue, Over Hulton, on the same site as a new Esso petrol station.

The company's first drive-thru - in the UK in fact - opened in Irlam, Salford, in 2017 and has been a huge success. Judging by the cars pulling up at the new branch on bank holiday Monday, this one is already proving just as popular.

The menu includes all the Greggs classics, from steak bakes and sausage rolls, to newer items such as chicken goujons and potato wedges.

It's not just limited to what's listed on the menu though, as it does say 'other freshly baked savouries / sandwiches / sweet treats available' so it was only thanks to asking that we managed to get our beloved vanilla slices.

There is a cafe on the site if you want to sit inside - we all know the perils of eating those flaky sausage rolls in the car - but it's a rare treat to be able to pick up those pastry favourites on the go.

The drive-thru, at the A&F Forecourts site, is currently open 5am to 11pm every day with the cafe open 6am to 10pm. There are plans to eventually open 24 hours if licensing is approved.

With a Burger King drive-thru opening soon too, and a Costa Coffee already there, it's opened up a range of food choices for visitors to the Westhoughton site, which houses Aldi's regional office and distribution centre, as well as a huge Amazon warehouse.
