Greg Taylor could fill Celtic 'psychiatric room' with left back rivals as ex boss details key Kieran Tierney difference
Gordon Strachan reckons there should be a “psychiatric room” at Celtic for all the left backs Greg Taylor has seen off - but reckons it will be different for returning hero Kieran Tierney.
Taylor has continually defied the doubters during his six years at Parkhead, from Boli Bolingoli who was bought as a replacement for Tierney when he went to Arsenal to the likes of Alexandro Bernabei who was brought in for just short of £4million but failed to cut it. Scotland full back Taylor’s contract is up this summer and he looks set to depart with Tierney heading back to the Hoops. Brendan Rodgers admitted Tierney’s return is an issue for Taylor, but is adamant there is room for both of them at the club.
Taylor has come in for some stick with some critics seeing him as a weak link at Champions League level but former boss Strachan, speaking to Genting Casino, said: "I feel that Greg Taylor's been magnificent over the years because of the number of left backs he's seen off. There should be a dressing room full of left backs who just sit there, who have come along and totally failed to move this lad.
“There should be some sort of psychiatric room at Celtic's training ground for the left backs that come in and have been seen off. They'll just sit there and go, ‘Why did I bother?’ It might be different for Kieran, but he keeps seeing people off. Greg Taylor, he gets on with his job, he can score, he makes goals, he gets into great midfield positions.
“What's happened is when he was brought in, they had him move into these midfield positions, but he was a midfield player when he was a kid so he can adapt to that.
