Greater Manchester is set to bask in an Indian summer with 20C temperatures

Another week of glorious sunshine could be on the cards for Greater Manchester. Forecasters have hinted that an Indian summer is on the horizon, however, the region must face a period of heavy rain and wind before temperatures rise again.

Last week, members of the public rejoiced thanks to the early September heatwave which saw sun lovers make the most of the warm climate. Temperatures rose as high as 26C as the sun shone through out the week with only a few spots of rain like the showers that brought Sahara dust with it.

However, before the Indian Summer, which is expected to arrive on Monday, October 2 and end on October 10. Greater Manchester will see a wave of gloomy weather.

According to The Met Office, the forecast for the next couple of days predicts sunny spells with outbreaks of rain.

Today (September 14) we will mainly grey skies and spots of rain with temperatures set to drop as low as 13C, a stark contrast from last week. On Friday the trend will continue with more rain.

Temperatures will rise to around 20C on Friday, the skies will be a little bit clearer and the sun is set to make an appearance but only for a short while. The weekend won't fair much better as the grey skies and rain are set to carry on.

The rain is set to hold out on Saturday, however, Sunday will see some light showers and temperatures will peak at 17C. Next week Monday (September 18) will be a wet affair with periods of rainfall through out the day.

This will continue onto Tuesday and Wednesday where the sun will come out in intervals but it will be filled with mainly rain and grey skies with temperatures settling around 17C.
