‘Great acquisition’ – Barnes picks Prem star who ‘fits profile’ for Liverpool
John Barnes believes West Ham and England star Declan Rice “would fit the profile of what Liverpool want” ahead of the summer transfer window.
Rice has been phenomenal for both West Ham and England in recent seasons.
The midfielder has outshone many of his peers as he has arguably been one of the best players in the Premier League this term.

The former Chelsea academy product has been linked with a move away from West Ham. Man Utd are reportedly among the teams interested in him.
Hammers boss David Moyes recently suggested that Rice will only be sold if they receive an offer ‘north of £150m’.
Barnes is of the belief that Rice would be a “great acquisition” for Liverpool:
“Rice would fit the profile of what Liverpool want. He’s a hard-working, strong midfield player who can win tackles, break things up, defend well, and that’s the profile they look for,” Barnes said (quotes via London World).

“He probably wouldn’t suit a team like Man City, but he can break the game up, cover the full backs if they go up and down, so he would suit Liverpool.
“But he’s at West Ham and Liverpool haven’t made a bid for him, so it’s speculation. If it happens it’s a great acquisition.”
