Grand National 2022 prize money: How much the winner will earn at Aintree
The Grand National Festival is now underway at Aintree. This year sees crowds return to the Festival for the first time since 2019 after last year's race was held behind closed doors with only owners and trainers allowed at the racecourse. However, this year's event will be a different affair as racegoers put on their best finery and keep their fingers crossed for a winner.
The opening day paid tribute to the NHS for their hard work during the pandemic. Aintree Racecourse donated 10,000 Grand National Thursday tickets to NHS workers across Merseyside. There's plenty of money to be won not just for the punters, but for the owners too.
A total of 40 horses will go to post for Saturday's Randox-sponsored event as they do battle in the most iconic contest in the sport. After jumping 30 fences for almost five miles, the winner will pocket connections a cool £500,000 and prize money goes all the way down to tenth place, which equates to 25 per cent of the line-up.
