GPA and GAA agree framework after 'positive' discussion on player expenses

The GAA and GPA have agreed a framework to reach a resolution to the ongoing dispute over player expenses, after holding what was described as a "productive" meeting on the issue this morning.

In a joint-statement released late this afternoon, the GAA and the players' body said they would "re-engage" on the matter in the coming weeks.

"The GAA and the players' representative body, the GPA, met this morning to discuss the ongoing dispute regarding player expenses," the statement read.

"The meeting was productive and a framework was put in place to try and reach a resolution.

"Both parties will re-engage under the terms of that framework over the course of the coming weeks."

The GAA and GPA have been at loggerheads over player expenses in recent months, with the players' body saying last month it was "extremely disappointed" that the GAA was seeking to continue cost-savings on player expenses introduced during the pandemic.

The GAA, meanwhile, insisted in March that it would cover up to four collective gatherings per week for player mileage expenses - but anything in excess of this was to be borne by individual counties.
