Gotham Knights: Game features biggest ever rendition of Gotham

Gotham Knights is set to feature the largest version of Batman’s iconic home of Gotham City ever seen in a video game.

The game’s director, Geoff Ellenor, has sat down with Game Informer to talk about the scope of the upcoming superhero game.

He was asked about how big Gotham was in the game, having previously been portrayed in the Batman Arkham series; a comparison was made with Batman: Arkham Knight.

He said: “It’s pretty big. I haven’t put one map over the other, but our Gotham is a big place.”

He added: “I tend to spend a lot of my Zoom calls on the Batcyle driving around Gotham. It is one of the fastest and most chill ways to move around the city. It feels like a big place.”

Fleur Marty, who is the executive producer, said: “For sure it’s the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games. The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers. The Batcycle is the long-range mode of transportation.

Arkham Knight had a map that was five square kilometres, according to IGN, and had three islands and multiple districts. That game included the Batmobile, allowing for quick transport throughout the city.

Gotham Knights instead has the Batcycle as well as a fast-travel system.

The game is currently slated for an October 25th 2022 release date and will come out on solely next-generation consoles, meaning the PS5, the Xbox Series X/S and the PC.

We have been given a glimpse of gameplay at times but there will be no cross-play function nor local co-op for players who are sat next to each other on a sofa.

We’ll bring you any more updates as and when they land.
