Goal-hungry Orchard ripen to see off Donegal

Armagh charged into the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals with a 3-17 to 0-16 Qualifier win over Donegal at Clones, reversing a comprehensive Ulster Championship defeat at Ballybofey a afew weeks ago.

Rian O'Neill starred with a 1-07 haul as the Orchard followed up their win over All-Ireland champions Tyrone with another compelling performance.

Donegal cancelled out Rory Grugan’s early goal with a string of points as they went four clear, but Armagh finished the first half strongly, with O’Neill netting a second from a penalty to make it 2-8 to 0-10 at the interval.

Stephen Sheridan grabbed a third Armagh goal to open out a ten points lead, and there was no way back for Donegal.

Michael Murphy, who played the entire game at full forward, had just one point from play among his 0-6 haul, while Shane O’Donnell hit four.
