GMP officer punched girl, 2, after kicking door into her face during police raid, court hears

A two-year-old girl was injured when police burst into her Oldham home following a complaint about her dad, a court heard.

After the toddler’s mum called emergency services to report her ex-partner would not move out of her home, officers from GMP turned up. But a court heard PC Paul Cleasby kicked a door into the child's face and punched her father while he was holding the toddler.

The father also claims his daughter was punched by the officer as he held her. The officer denies the allegations.

"The next thing I knew he kicked the door and my kid was behind the door and the door hit her straight in the face," the man told the court.

The 23-year-old also claimed that during the incident he was punched in the face by the officer and his daughter was also punched while he was holding her in his left arm.

PC Cleasby, 34, of Windermere Road, Middleton, denies assaulting the man by beating on November 18 last year and assaulting the child by beating.

Footage from body worn cameras on the officers who attended with PC Cleasby was played to District Judge Wendy Lloyd showing chaotic and loud scenes after officers entered the first floor flat at 10.32 pm. The footage showed the defendant punching the man in the face after he raised his arm.
