Glenn McGrath recalls his final phone call with cricket legend Shane Warne

Glenn McGrath has recalled his final phone call with his good friend and former teammate Shane Warne before the cricket legend’s shock death.

Thai police have confirmed the 52-year-old suffered a suspected heart attack while holidaying in Thailand on Friday, listing natural causes as his cause of death.

McGrath, who retired from cricket on the same day as Warne in 2007, told Sunrise on Tuesday he had phoned his friend last week to thank him for appearing on a recent episode of ABC’s Australian Story about his late wife, Jane.

“I feel like there was nothing left unsaid.”

Warne’s body will be brought back to Australia from Thailand on Tuesday, where a state funeral is likely to be held at the MCG in the coming weeks.
