Gleeson out of Cork clash as Déise decide not to appeal red card
Waterford GAA have decided not to appeal Austin Gleeson's sending-off against Wexford last Sunday.
RTÉ Sport can confirm that the county board will not be taking the matter any further.
It means that the in-form Gleeson, who scored 2-03 before being sent off against the Model County, will miss this weekend’s Allianz Hurling League final against Cork.
A review of the Waterford-Wexford game took place among management yesterday evening and the decision not to appeal the red card was made based on that meeting, following analysis of video footage.
Gleeson was involved in an altercation with Wexford defender Simon Donohoe late in the game.
On Sunday, manager Liam Cahill confirmed that if there were grounds for appeal, they would proceed but now it has been confirmed that the talented attacker will miss the final against Cork.
