Glazers keeping Manchester United players and staff away from takeover process

Figures at Manchester United are being kept in the dark by the Glazer family over the process to potentially sell the club to avoid on-pitch distractions.

Bids were formally submitted by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe before Friday's soft deadline of 10pm.

It is understood the Glazers are solely dealing with the Raine Group, the investment bank managing the probable sale of United, to avoid distracting the football staff.

There is some apprehension among staff at United as to what the outcome will be of the process to seek new investment.

United supporters reiterated their opposition to the Glazer family through several chants during the 3-0 win over Leicester at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Manchester United Supporters' Trust demanded any prospective owner backs manager Erik ten Hag in a statement issued on the eve of the win over Leicester on Sunday.

MUST implored any prospective bidder to "explicitly commit to backing Erik and his plans to restore United to glory".

"I thank the fans for their trust in me," Ten Hag added. "I feel committed with this club, I love to be here but it's not in my influence.

"What I can influence is the performance of this team and I will give everything to perform as good as possible and to bring them hopefully across limits.

"We are committed with this club and it's our club, it's in our heart. But it's not our job, we are focusing on football and performing, from our team, that is what the players and staff around have to do."

United are the only club in Europe competing on four fronts and are third in the Premier League with only five points separating them and leaders Arsenal.
