Girl, 13, left in coma after she was 'dropped on her head' at school is 'strongest' as sister gives update

A schoolgirl who was allegedly 'dropped on her head' in the playground and had to be placed in an induced coma has taken her first few steps.

Neeka Atkinson suffered a brain injury on Friday, July 8 at a school in Hull after she was allegedly dropped head first onto a concrete floor. She was rushed to hospital from the Archbishop Sentamu Academy after she started fitting.

The 13-year-old was put into a coma and a CT scan revealed she had a blood clot in her brain. After undergoing a lengthy operation, Neeka was in a stable condition but the left side of her body was paralysed and she struggled to speak.

Her family set up a fundraiser when they were advised that Neeka would need to be transferred to a Leeds
