German embassy's brutal take down of bogus Russian claims about Ukraine

A German embassy has dramatically shut down bogus Russian claims that the invasion of Ukraine is about de-Nazifying the country.

Vladimir Putin’s government has repeatedly said that Ukraine is controlled by a cabal of fascists, despite it being false.

Yesterday, those claims were made once again by Russia’s embassy in South Africa on Twitter.

However, the misinformation was quickly countered by another embassy in South Africa — Germany.

Its Twitter account replied to the Russians saying: “Sorry, but we can't stay silent on this one, it's just far too cynical.

“What [Russia] is doing in [Ukraine] is slaughtering innocent children, women and men for its own gain.

“It's definitely not ‘fighting Nazism’.

“Shame on anyone who's falling for this. (Sadly, we're kinda experts on Nazism.)”

The post went viral, with 29,000 retweets and more than 125,000 likes registered by Sunday evening.

This weekend has seen more reports that Russia has targeted civilians in its attacks.

On Sunday evening, the UK Ministry of Defence confirmed a second attempted ceasefire had broken down between the parties in the city of Mariupol.

It had been brought in to allow civilians to flee the violence — but it appears many innocents have been killed by the ongoing and advancing Russian invasion.
