George Russell says Lewis Hamilton is ready for new season after winter of speculation
George Russell says that Lewis Hamilton is a fighter and that his British team-mate will be ready for the new Formula 1 season after a winter of speculation over his future.
Russell joins Hamilton at Mercedes for the first time this season and will surely be eager to learn as much as possible from his illustrious team-mate over the course of the next few months.
Indeed, the former Williams driver will be pleased to see Lewis is going nowhere away from the sport after a winter of speculation concerning his future, following on from what happened in Abu Dhabi.
And, that said, Russell believes that Hamilton will be ready for the coming campaign despite the last few weeks of chatter around his situation:
“Lewis is a fighter, he’s a racer,” he said.
“His absolute main priority is to be the best version of himself when he hits the track in Bahrain for race one.
“He’s more experienced than I am. He knows what it takes to be a world champion and he knows what preparation he needs over the course of a pre-season to prepare himself best for that first race.
“Everybody’s different. I’ll have a different approach probably to Lewis, he’ll have a different approach to another driver, and that’s for all of the Formula 1 drivers.
“You need to learn what is best for you and respect how each individual does that.”
