George Elokobi says Maidstone United must stay humble and grounded going into National League South home game against Slough Town

Manager George Elokobi won’t let Maidstone get carried away by their latest FA Cup adventure as they return to league action.

The Stones, who made the last 16 last season, are through to the first round proper again after beating Ebbsfleet 3-0 at home in final qualifying.

They face a trip to Solihull Moors, last season’s beaten National League play-off finalists, next month.

Moors beat Altrincham 3-1 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in their midweek replay, the teams having drawn 1-1 on Saturday.

Alty looking to be heading through on Tuesday night only to concede an injury-time equaliser.

Maidstone were outstanding against Fleet, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to six games.

They can take confidence from that going into their National League South home game against Slough on Saturday (3pm), as defender Temi Eweka faces his old club for the first time.

That’s followed by a trip to Aveley on Monday night (7.45pm), a team who did the double over Maidstone last season before Elokobi’s men beat them in a play-off eliminator.

Elokobi is pleased with United’s progress but isn’t getting ahead of himself.

He said: “We’ve been building in the last couple of weeks, we knew the performance levels were there.

“It was all about making sure we got the right balance within the squad, looking at different systems, how personnel fits in within the units, and having competition within the squad.

“All of that gives you a chance to go out and put on excellent performances like we did against Ebbsfleet.

“That win was for our fans, for our community.
