Gary Neville hails 'outrageous' Cristiano Ronaldo as he breaks goalscoring record

Gary Neville was awestruck by Cristiano Ronaldo's latest masterstroke as the 37-year-old's Manchester United goals against Tottenham saw him break another goalscoring record.

His opener took him level with Austrian-Czech forward Josef Bican in the FIFA record books on 805 professional career goals. Bican played between 1931 and 1957.

He then broke the record with goal number 806 of his career with a tap-in to put United 2-1 up later in the half. It becomes the latest accolade in his long, illustrious career after he broke the international record in September, shortly after making his sensational return to Old Trafford.

Neville, on commentary for the Spurs meeting, couldn't contain his awe of the Portugal captain, he said: "That record is absolutely outrageous, 805 goals at international and club level, well done to him, what a player."

The Premier League-winning full-back hailed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner for his moment of magic, after the opener he said: "I was just about to say how safe this game was, tentative, nothing happening, no expression and then an absolute explosion of brilliance from Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s almost like one of his free-kicks, there’s no wall, the power, backlift it is absolutely sensational from Cristiano Ronaldo, touch out of his feet, Dier stands off… absolute beauty of a goal."

Tottenham were given an avenue back into the contest after Alex Telles was adjudged to have handled in the area, allowing Harry Kane to score from the penalty spot. But
