Gareth Southgate should follow Steven Gerrard advice ahead of England reveal

Gareth Southgate will name his England squad later today (2pm) and there's hope that Aston Villa young gun Jacob Ramsey could make it after a standout couple of months. The 20-year-old has really come into his own since the turn of the year and must be up for Villa's player of the season award given his powerful and purposeful performances from central midfield.

Ramsey is chasing down Ollie Watkins (7) for Villa's top-scorer gong knowing he's just one behind the striker while, in his last nine games, the Great Barr kid has notched four, including a stunning double in the crazy 3-3 draw with Leeds United. Last weekend at West Ham, Ramsey was easily Villa's best player and remains so important to Steven Gerrard's way of playing.

"I know the level of the England players, I’ve been around it, and have enough experience to know it’s only a matter of time," Gerrard said of Ramsey potentially earning his maiden England call-up.

"I want him to make his own headlines with his football. He is a top talent, I’m loving every moment of working with him. He is getting stronger with each game because we’re giving him the platform to express himself. He is in a wonderful place."

Gerrard, 41, has also told how Ramsey is better than he was at 20 after just breaking through at Anfield. In terms of England senior selection, there's not too many like Ramsey, a player who is prepared to break lines with his runs into the penalty box. Crystal Palace ace Conor Gallagher is of a similar ilk but Ramsey is a little bit bigger and more imposing despite being two years younger.

It's an absolute no-brainer for Southgate to call-up Villa academy graduate Ramsey for England's fixtures with Switzerland (March 26) and Ivory Coast (March 29). The
