Game suspended for 45 minutes as Wales international in agony

Wales international Georgia Evans is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering what appeared to be a serious injury in Saracens Women's 30-26 victory over Bristol Bears on the weekend.

Four minutes into the match, Evans, who is on a retainer contract with the WRU, seemed to get her arm trapped awkwardly in a tackle.

Team-mates showed immediate concern as she looked in obvious pain.

Evans walked from the pitch with her left arm being heavily supported by a brace and medical staff.

The game was initially paused for just under 15 minutes as she received treatment and had to be stopped again four minutes later due to an injury to Cara Wardle.

At this point, it became apparent that the match doctor was still tending to Evans in the changing rooms. Wardle limped off the field but the referee then brought a halt to proceedings, explaining that a doctor had to be pitchside for the game to continue.

Initially it was hoped that the stoppage would only be five minutes but it ended up being much longer.

The game was temporarily suspended for 45 minutes as Evans received the attention of the match doctor in the changing rooms.

When the game was able to restart, her Saracens team-mates ran out narrow victors in a thrilling encounter.

After the match, Evans posted on social media: "Thank you all for your kind words, messages and support.

"Thank you to the medical staff at for doing such an amazing job with a pretty hysterical me.

"And thank you to the girls - who put on a show and made me proud.

"It hurts, but it’s rugby. I won’t be long!"

All will wish her a speedy recovery.
