GAA: Wexford secure vital win over Galway as Tipperary rescue draw against Waterford

Wexford earned a vital 1-28 to 0-23 win over Galway in Wexford Park to blow the Leinster championship wide open.

Rory O'Connor scored 1-6, as Wexford got their first win of the championship to stay in contention for a provincial final.

His goal in the 39th minute swung momentum in Wexford's way, as they kept the scoreboard ticking throughout.

Kilkenny, Dublin, Galway and Wexford are now all on three points with three games played. Next weekend, Kilkenny travel to Carlow, with Dublin hosting Antrim.

In Munster, Tipperary scored a late second free to rescue a 1-27 to 3-21 draw against Waterford.

In a must win game for Tipperary after their loss to Limerick, it was Waterford who gained the lead in the first half, with goals from Jason Forde and Jack Prendergast giving Waterford a 2-8 to 0-12 lead at the interval.

Waterford looked set for victory with a third goal from Stephen Bennett, but Tipperary rallied in the second half, with a late goal from Sean Kenneally and a last minute from Gearoid O'Connor meant the points were shared.

In Ladies Football, Cork will join Kerry in the Munster final after a 0-11 to 0-10 win over Tipperary thanks to a last minute score from Sadbh McGoldrick.
