Further arrest made following death of Zikel Bobmanuel in Openshaw

A further arrest has been made in connection with the death of Zikel Bobmanuel in Openshaw. A man, 36, has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He was in custody being quizzed by detectives from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team on Tuesday (April 4). Officers were called to a property on Welland Street at around 2pm on Saturday, March 25.

Mr Bobmanuel was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed he was shot, cops say. Two men have been charged with murder.

Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer said: said "We have a team of detectives working around the clock to establish the circumstances leading up to Zikel’s death.

"Our inquiries are far from over and we are still appealing for information to help with our investigation, anyone can contact us with information regardless of how insignificant it may seem. Anyone who may have any information is urged to do the right thing and report it - it may be crucial in our inquiries."

Rumaal Ingram, 38, appeared via video link at Manchester Crown Court yesterday (Monday). Mr Ingram, of Bucklow Avenue, Fallowfield, is charged with murder; and an alternate offence of manslaughter.

The case was adjourned for a further hearing on June 9. Mr Ingram was remanded in custody.

Another man, Emmanuel Onasanya, has also appeared in court charged with Mr Bobmanuel's murder.

The 32-year-old, of John Beeley Avenue, Openshaw, will next appear in court for a plea hearing in June. Mr Onasanya was remanded in custody.

A trial date has been set for October 3.
