Full Southampton squad revealed for Leeds clash as Ralph Hasenhuttl seeks to alleviate pressure

It might only be the second game of the season for Southampton but today's home match against Leeds United is fraught with expectation and pressure.

The Saints lost their season opener against Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 last week and offered a tepid performance all too familiar to the club's supporters, most of whom were there to watch their side lose nine of their final 12 Premier League matches at the end of the last campaign.

As a result, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is under pressure to get the team back on track, especially after Southampton's new owners replaced his coaching team over the summer and have so far spent around £50million on new signings.

Reports of "dissent" within the dressing room have not helped matters though, while the club's new measures to curb "anti-social behaviour" from supporters, including reducing capacity at St Mary's on matchday, have not gone down well with fans.

A lot of this was discussed on Wednesday evening when Hasenhuttl was joined by Southampton CEO Martin Semmens, sporting director Toby Steele and head of women's operations Marieanne Spacey-Cale to speak at a fans forum event that featured an hour-long Q&A section.

The club and, most importantly, Hasenhuttl will know the biggest way to alleviate pressure is to get results on the pitch, starting with Saturday's home match against Leeds. Getting their first win of the season under their belts would be a huge mental boost for everyone, just as a defeat would likely go down like a lead balloon.

The manager confined in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that defender Lyanco would miss the game with a knee injury, joining long-term absentee Tino Livramento on the sidelines. Theo Walcott is also expected to miss out.
