Full list of sites to get Mpox vaccine as NHS expands rollout in England after eighth confirmed case

The NHS has ramped up efforts to protect Brits from the Mpox virus by announcing twelve new vaccination sites will open across England.

It comes after the UK Health Security Agency confirmed another Mpox case had been detected in the country last week (January 31).

The UK has reported a total of eight cases of a more deadly strain of the virus, called Clade Ib, since October 2024. Research shows more people are getting sick from this particular Mpox strain, and a larger number of those infected are dying from the virus.

Mpox (previously known as monkeypox) is a rare infection most commonly found in parts of central and east Africa.

Despite the rise in Mpox infections in the UK, health bosses insist the risk to the UK population "remains low". The latest infections in England have been linked to recent travel to Uganda, where the disease is more widespread within local communities.

Last summer, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Clade Ib outbreak a public health emergency following a surge in cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The strain has caused outbreaks in previously unaffected areas of the country, spreading across the globe to nations that had not previously reported Mpox.

NHS chiefs are urging those at risk of Mpox to “come forward” and get vaccinated against the virus in the new vaccination sites across the country, after previously only being available to those eligible in London, Manchester and Brighton.

Mpox can be passed on from person to person through any close physical contact with Mpox blisters or scabs. The NHS says you may be eligible for the Mpox jab if you are a man who has sex with men and:
