Full list of previous winners of the Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest is back on our TV screens, with this year’s contest being hosted by the UK on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine. Liverpool has welcomed singers from all across Europe and even Australia this week.
Following two semi-finals, 26 performers will participate in the Grand Final on May 13, competing to take home the trophy. It’s a prestigious title and one which can transform a singer’s career.
Since its launch in 1956, 27 countries have won the contest, with some winners proving more memorable than others - Eurovision fan or not, everyone’s heard of Abba. Despite not making it to the final since 2018, Ireland is the country with the highest number of wins, with seven.
In 1969 there were actually four winners, with the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and France tying. As there were no tiebreaker rules in place, they were declared joint winners, but now rules are in place so it's never happened again.
The full list of winners can be found below. The information listed included the host city, host country, winning country, song and performer.
