Full list of DWP benefits that could get you free driving lessons - including Universal Credit

People claiming one of a number of benefits could be eligible for free driving lessons if they meet certain criteria.

Eligible people can receive a grant to go towards the cost of learning to drive if they have obtained a vehicle through the Motability scheme. Meanwhile, job centres also offer separate funding for lessons in some cases.

Some of the DWP benefits that can help someone qualify for this include Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Universal Credit, and Housing Benefit. Furthermore, those who receive council tax bill reduction through Council Tax Support may also qualify, Birmingham Live reports.

According to Motability, customers who have a vehicle from them (or one on order and due to be delivered within four months), as well as a provisional licence, can ask for a Driving Lessons Grant if they receive a means-tested benefit.

Some or all of those benefits can be exchanged in return for a Motability car. The above benefits can also be used to ask for an exemption from paying road tax - they can also avoid paying for repairs of servicing needed from everyday wear and tear.

To be eligible for driving lessons, you must also receive one of the following Government assessed means-tested benefits from DWP or HMRC:

Students under 25 whose parents receive an eligible benefit can also apply if they are on the Motability scheme.
