Full list of at-risk Wetherspoon pubs up for sale as two more to close soon

A wave of Wetherspoon pubs are set to close down permanently over the next two months.

Already the Saltoun Inn in Fraserburgh, Scotland, shut down on Sunday, July 30, while The Bankers Draft in Eltham, London, is set to close on Sunday, August 20. Some of the location's sales are being managed by the commercial retail estate firm CBRE Groups and Savills.

According to its website, the firm states 17 Wetherspoon pubs are classified as "under offer" which means a buyer has presented an offer that is being considered by the seller. Despite an offer being made, that is no guarantee that a deal will go through, leaving the sites at risk, the Mirror reports.

Meanwhile, 10 pubs are currently "available" - which means they are up for sale and could potentially be bought out. It comes after Wetherspoon announced last year that it was planning on closing 32 of its sites with an additional announcement bringing further closures.

The pub chain confirmed in its July trading update that the sites closed were smaller, older, or had another Wetherspoon location close by. It highlighted that any suggestion that the closures were due to difficult trading conditions were a "misinterpretation" and that the "disposal" only raised a "modest amount".

Last month, the popular pub chain announced that it had another 22 pubs currently on the market after having sold 28 already this year. Of the closed pubs, 15 had a lease expire or the company exercised its "break clause" - this allowed both Wetherspoon and the landlord to end the tenancy early.
