Fulham set to seal £7.7m transfer agreement

Championship side Fulham have managed to negotiate a £7.7m fee with Premier League outfit for the services of Fabio Carvalho in the summer, as per a report from Football Insider.

The 19-year-old was previously on the verge of signing for Jurgen Klopp’s men in January – but an agreement was struck too late on deadline day for a deal to be finalised and this continued to create further uncertainty regarding his future.

Previously refusing to sign fresh terms at Craven Cottage, the possibility of the teenager leaving the English capital was always there, though it was unclear how much they would be able to get for his services considering his contract runs out in the coming months.

The second-tier side faced the possibility of needing to head to a tribunal to fight for compensation for the advanced midfielder with a deal previously not thought to have been agreed.

But this latest report from Football Insider has revealed the top-tier outfit will pay an initial £5m for his services with £2.7m potentially to come in add-ons, perhaps a relief to many Fulham supporters who may have been fearing they would get a lot less for him.

As part of this agreement, it’s though the England youth international will quadruple his wages with a contract until the summer of 2027 agreed, a considerable investment from the Merseyside club with the midfielder yet to prove himself at the highest level of the English game.

The Verdict:

It’s currently unclear whether a sell-on clause has been negotiated – but it may not be much use anyway considering Klopp’s side are one of the best in the world – making a move to a “bigger” club almost impossible at this stage.
