Fulham: Mitrovic 'set to start' vs Aston Villa and Leeds

Fulham star Alesander Mitrovic is expected to be fit for their games against Aston Villa and Leeds in the coming days, according to insider Dean Jones.

The £43,000 per-week man made his return to action in the draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, but later admitted that he’s still not injury-free.

Mitrovic has enjoyed a fine start to his third Premier League season with Fulham, scoring six goals in his first six appearances.

But the last couple of weeks have been frustrating to say the least, with the big striker not in the goals of late, while he suffered an ankle injury in the defeat to former side Newcastle earlier this month.

Fortunately for Fulham, the only game he missed was the London derby at West Ham, with Mitrovic fit enough to return to the starting XI against Bournemouth despite being a major doubt for the clash.

But the 28-year-old did reveal after rescuing his team a point from the penalty spot that he was playing injured.

He said: "I've been in a lot of pain, (but) painkillers helped a lot. I still haven't completely recovered but managed to get the goal today. I had one or two chances where I could have done better, but that's football."

Despite his struggles, Jones is confident Mitrovic will be fit enough to keep his place when Marco Silva's team host Aston Villa at Craven Cottage.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Mitro will always start if he's fit, it's never really a consideration for him or the club.

"The fact he got through the last game, I don't think the injury was ever terribly bad, it was more of a concern than anything and they wanted to make sure that it didn't become a serious problem.

"So, I think Mitrovic will be okay to start both of the games."
