Friends achieve two holes-in-one on same hole at Co Dublin golf course

Two friends claimed to achieve holes-in-one on the same hole and on the same day at a golf course in Co Dublin.

Cian Casey and Gavin Ryan both reportedly achieved holes-in-one at the Hollywood Lakes Golf Club on Sunday.

The feat was said to occur on the club’s fourth hole, a 129-yard Par 3 featuring a challenging two-tiered green.

Friends Cian Warren and Jack Ryan from Ballyboughal were playing with the two friends when the feat is said to have occurred.

Cian Warren said that he had teed off first, hitting the ball to about 12 feet. Jack Ryan went after, hitting his shot into the water.

"Cian Casey then hit his 9 iron and it was slightly right of the pin and it landed perfectly so that a slope on the green funneled the ball towards the pin. As the hole was in a bowl shape, we couldn’t see the bottom of the flag but the ball had disappeared from where we were stood", Mr Warren said.

"Gavin Ryan was still left to take his shot and he composed himself and hit his pitching wedge right towards the pin. His ball also disappeared as we rushed up the hill to the green. Jack Ryan raced ahead of us and he shouted back at myself, Cian and Gavin “Boys they are both in!”

The odds of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one are approximately 12,500 to 1, with the chances of two players achieving this in the region of 17 million to one.

The Hollywood Lakes Golf Club has extended its congratulations to the two players.
