Freedom at last for Samson Siasia

• Says ‘I’m Open To Any Coaching Job Home, Abroad’

After the rain comes sunshine for former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia.

Siasia’s agony is over after he was forced to endure a five-year ban from August 16, 2019 till Friday, August 16, 2024.

He turned 57 years three days ago.

The Bayelsa State-born Siasia has everything to rejoice for. As a player Siasia was in the Super Eagles squad that qualified Nigeria for her first World Cup at USA ’94. He also won the Tunisia ’94 AFCON amongst other laurels.

And as a coach, he won silver medal at Holland 2005 U20 World Cup, Silver at Beijing 2008 Men’s Olympic football event and a bronze in the same event at Rio 2016 Olympics.

He is, therefore, bestowed with intimidating coaching profile that he can now build on.

Having coached the Super Eagles in the past, he could be in vantage position to return to the job, especially now that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to announce a new coach for the team.

An online media platform quoted Siasia a few days ago saying: “I have missed football so much.

“I just can’t wait to get back and I’m open to any coaching job both home and abroad as long as they can match my demand. I’m very excited and happy about my return.

“My plan is to get back into full time coaching immediately. I still want to make more impact in the game which is why I’m not being selective but just want to get back fast.

“I wish to thank everyone for their support, prayers during these difficult years of my career as a coach.

The ex- Nantes of France striker has been linked to several jobs on his return, including Mighty Jets of Jos, but he chose to keep them to his chest until he joins any side which he promises to make public immediately that happens.

“I don’t want to
