Frank Warren uses Julia Roberts analogy to dismiss Dillian Whyte’s request to rematch Tyson Fury

Boxing promoter Frank Warren used an amusing Julia Roberts joke to help explain why Dillian Whyte won’t get a rematch against Tyson Fury.

Last Saturday night at Wembley, Dillian Whyte fell short in his attempt to dethrone Tyson Fury in their mammoth heavyweight title showdown. ‘The Gypsy King’ was able to neutralise Whyte at every turn and, ultimately, knocked him out in the sixth round with a vicious uppercut.

However, there was a bit of controversy stemming from the contest after Whyte protested that Fury’s push was the catalyst behind him falling and hitting his head against the canvas.

Many have since disputed the claim, but it hasn’t stopped the ‘Body Snatcher’ from calling for a rematch.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Frank Warren confirmed that the Fury camp wouldn’t be entertaining the idea.

“Tyson just pushed him back a bit because he was falling forward. It’s better that he pushed him than hit him because he would have never gotten up.

“When he got up, he didn’t know where he was. The referee did the correct thing and stopped the fight and saved him from further punishment. There should be no complaints on that. Let’s not even go there with that.”

“No [to a rematch].” Warren said.

“What for? Based upon what?

“Listen, when I was really young I was asking to take Julia Roberts out, it never happened. Where do you want to go with it?

“It’s not even debatable. It’s not going to happen, Dillian. You’ve got to fight your way back into contention and you know, good luck to you doing that.”

Tyson Fury can do whatever he pleases and based on what he’s said in the last few days, that may well be a WWE return followed by an exhibition boxing match against Francis Ngannou.
