Frank Warren gives Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk update in Anthony Joshua parallel

Frank Warren has admitted that negotiations for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk could come to an end on Friday if an agreement is not made for the highly anticipated heavyweight bout.

The pair had been expected to make an announcement for a fight this spring, but with their touted April date looming, there appears to be no progress as of yet. The heavyweight title fight would be a huge contest with the pair unifying their respective titles to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

However, Warren has given fans bad news today as he confirmed on talkSPORT that should the fighters fail to agree on a deal to fight this week then the fight may not take place. The date is set for April 29, with Wembley the likely venue but without the fighters agreeing on the financial side then a deal cannot be made.

Speaking on the breakfast show with Simon Jordan and Jim White today, Warren said: “You need the agreement of both boxers to make it happen and at the moment we haven’t got that, so that’s where we’re at.”

“We’re working hard to make it happen,” The Queensberry promoter explained. “And, with the greatest respect, I didn’t ring talkSPORT to do an interview about it, you rang me.

“So, out of courtesy I’m telling you where we are, but I’m not going to be conducting negotiations at the moment they’re confidential between the two parties. But, I would say it’s not going to go past the end of this week that’s for sure because the proposed date is April 29.”
