Frank Lampard not impacted by Sean Dyche's Burnley sacking, 'it doesn't affect Everton'

The Toffees and the Clarets have been locking horns over the last few months of their relegation battle, and Burnley's sacking of Sean Dyche has been the latest twist in the tale.

It came as a shock to many, with Dyche engineering a number of late escapes during his time at Burnley, but while some suggest it rules them out of staying up, Everton boss Frank Lampard disagrees.

"I think that's been quite a universal reaction to it, but the club have decided to make a change, and Sean Dyche I'm sure deserves maybe a bit of a rest and then will get a fantastic job because of the level of manager he has shown himself to be. I wish Sean all the best going forward on that.

"It doesn't affect Everton. I saw a quote this week saying we were let off the hook that it's happened. I don't see how. This doesn't change anything - Burnley are a good team and used to fighting to stay in the Premier League, and that fact will remain the same."

With plenty of tough clashes still on the horizon, Lampard was eager to keep his side focused on their run-in, but the former England star insists the mood around Goodison Park is good.
