Frank Lampard must quickly learn what Everton fans already know

I think the defeat at Southampton was a wake-up call for Frank Lampard, because this is what Everton fans have been witnessing for many years.

I know he’s trying to keep spirits high and confidence up but we know that with this group of players, when the going gets tough, their heads go down.

We seem to pull out a fantastic performance one week and the lads are all buzzing and we see that from the photos at Finch Farm.

Then the next game we’ve thrown it all away.

We seem to think that we’re Real Madrid all of a sudden because we’ve won one game and forget to put in the hard yards, getting the basics right.

You’ve got to have that desire to win the second balls. I don’t think we won a single second ball against Southampton.

Us fans know who is good enough to play at this football club.

Who is going to run that extra mile consistently for us, who is going to work hard week on week.

Unfortunately Frank doesn’t.

He’s come into the club at a difficult time and he’s reset everybody to assess them all on a level playing field but we haven’t got time for him to do that.

We know who the players are who year on year make the same mistakes and aren’t improving.

One good game, a couple here and there each season, is not good enough.

We’re crying out for consistency and this set of players have not been doing that for many years.

Frank is trying to be fair and give everyone an opportunity to show what they can do in training but us fans know exactly who is accountable for the situation we’re in right now.

The league table does not lie and our form away from home has been absolutely shocking this season.

Frank and his staff need to fast track solutions in terms of personnel to get us picking up points.
