France call up Munster's Antoine Frisch for Six Nations climax

France have called up Munster centre Antoine Frisch ahead of their final Guinness Six Nations match.

Les Bleus will round off their campaign against England in Lyon next Saturday night and following their 45-24 victory over Wales in Cardiff, head coach Fabien Galthie confirmed that the 27-year-old will be added to their wider squad due to injury concerns over Pierre-Louis Barassi and Jonathan Danty's absence due to suspension.

"We have followed him for a long time and the opportunity is there for him to take," said Galthie.

"Pierre-Louis Barassi has a sprain, Jonathan Danty is unavailable due to the red card.

"(Frisch) has put together a series of big performances for Munster where he is the undisputed first choice."

French-born Frisch is Irish-qualified through one of his grandmothers and has represented Emerging Ireland previously in 2022.

However, if he is capped against England, he will become non-Irish qualified, which could have a knock-on impact on Munster's ability to keep him at the province when his contract comes to an end in the summer of 2025.
