Former Margate captain Harry Hudson pledges to keep new Faversham Town team-mates motivated on cold midweek away matches next season as he agrees terms with Steve Watt’s Lilywhites
Former Margate captain Harry Hudson has pledged to keep his new team-mates motivated on cold midweek away matches next season.
The centre-back, still only 25, has signed for Gate’s Isthmian South East rivals Faversham Town after he left Hartsdown Park - alongside player-manager Ben Greenhalgh - earlier this month.
Signing former Tonbridge Angels player Hudson represents a big coup for new Lilywhites boss Steve Watt, who has seemingly already assembled much of his defence, with No.1 Tom Hadler and defender Lex Allan also through the door at Salters Lane in the past few days.
“As soon as I spoke to the gaffer and he explained the project that Faversham have here, I felt it was the right place for me to be,” Hudson told the club’s media team.
“I’ll bring leadership and help keep the team together.
“In those difficult games, the cold, horrible Tuesday nights away from home - I’ll make sure the boys stay together and do everything we can to get the win.”
Hudson made more than 100 Gate first-team appearances and has captained them for the past two seasons.
Both Faversham and Margate finished just outside the top five and a play-off place last time out, with sixth-placed Gate one position and a point ahead of the Lilywhites.
