Former junior hockey executive charged with child luring also facing domestic violence-related offences
The former junior hockey executive now facing sexual abuse charges relating to three under-age players in southern Alberta has two sets of domestic violence-related offences currently before the courts, CBC News has learned.
Tyler King, 39, who had been working at a college in Syracuse, N.Y., was arrested Friday at a U.S. border crossing in Kingston, Ont. He faces charges of luring, sexual exploitation and making child sexual abuse material.
According to RCMP, King is accused of compensating the under-age players for intimate images and sexual videos.
Court records show that before his arrest in Ontario, King was already wanted on warrants after it’s alleged he failed to show up at court for appearances in two active cases.

In November 2025, King was charged with assault by choking. According to court documents, that case is currently in Calgary’s domestic violence courtroom, and as part of his bail conditions he was required to take domestic violence counselling.
A second set of charges involves the same alleged victim and seven offences from Didsbury, Alta.
In that case, King faces two charges of assault by choking, common assault, assault with a baseball bat, mischief and two counts of uttering threats.
King faces two charges of failing to attend court and failing to comply with a release order after it’s alleged he stopped showing up for his court appearances.
In 2018, King also entered into a 12-month peace bond after he was charged with assault.
RCMP say the investigation that led to the latest charges began in June 2024 after someone from the Okotoks Oilers organization reported the allegations to police.
