Former Ireland player Brian Smith dies aged 59
Brian Smith, who represented Australia and Ireland at test level and was later attack coach for England, has died from cancer at the age of 59.
Smith won six caps for Australia in 1987, including at the first World Cup, before moving to study at Oxford and play nine Tests for Ireland.
In 1991, Smith changed codes and joined the Balmain Tigers rugby league team in Sydney, where he played out his career.
After retirement, Smith moved into rugby union coaching and was an assistant under England head coach Martin Johnson from 2008 to 2011.
Smith also had a spell as director of rugby at London Irish.
