Former Hull KR Championship recruit Zach Dockar-Clay set for NRL debut

Former Hull KR player Zach Dockar-Clay is set to make his NRL debut this weekend for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. The Dogs take on Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Friday night, with the Bulldogs sat at the foot of the ladder after a poor start to 2022 which has seen coach Trent Barratt relived from his duties.

ZDC joined the Robins from Penrith Panthers in early 2017, and was the second member of his family to pull on the famous Red and White shirt after following in the footsteps of great-grandfather Alec Dockar, who played over 250 matches for the Robins in the 1940s and 50s.

Dockar-Clay made his Hull KR debut in April 2017, scoring a try in the win over Swinton Lions. He played 19 games during the promotion campaign, scoring six tries and kicking ten goals.

Since leaving Sewell Group Craven Park, Dockar-Clay has gone onto to feature for Townsville Blackhawks, Blacktown Workers and NSW Cup side Western Suburbs before finally landing a gig in the NRL with the Bulldogs.

He will become one of the competition's oldest-ever debutants having just turned 27 last month.
