Former Australia keeper Langerak returning to Melbourne Victory

Former Australia goalkeeper Mitch Langerak will rejoin Melbourne Victory on an 18-month contract in January, the A-League club said on Saturday.

Langerak, who currently plays for Japanese side Nagoya Grampus, will be returning to the outfit where he started his professional career before joining Germany's Borussia Dortmund in 2010.

"Mitch's pedigree speaks for itself," said Victory coach Patrick Kisnorbo. "He's played at the highest level in Europe and he has been an incredibly consistent performer in Japan.

"His character, professionalism and attitude to football is an example for all footballers to follow and we look forward to his arrival in January."

The 35-year-old was a member of the Socceroos squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil before serving as Mat Ryan's deputy when Australia won the Asian Cup on home soil a year later.

Langerak will move to Melbourne following the conclusion of the season in Japan.
