Forgotten Liverpool Man To Be Dropped From Premier League Squad To Make Room For New Signing Luis Diaz

Top flight teams in England can have a maximum of 17 overseas players in their 25-man squads, with the eight remaining places dedicated for homegrown talents.

The German keeper's exclusion paves the way for Diaz who is now available to help Liverpool's title challenge this season.

The writing appears to be on the wall for Karius, who hasn't played a competitive game for Liverpool since his disastrous showing against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed loan spells away from Anfield, playing two seasons at Besiktas before spending some time at Union Berlin last season.

Diaz, meanwhile, could make his Liverpool debut on Sunday when they host Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Klopp is excited over his new addition and can't wait to start working with him ahead of the second half of the campaign.

"I've not even seen him yet!" The German boss said. "He hasn't been to the training ground yet.

"Just a really good sign that we work on all fronts to try to improve this team. We have to be successful now and in the future.

"We like pretty much everything about him. I've followed him for a while - exceptional. Skillset and character.

"Really happy we could get him in now. His story so far is a special one. I like that. Now he's one of us. We can't wait to welcome him here."
