Forget Buendia: Gerrard must unleash Aston Villa's £85k-p/w gem who “can do anything” - opinion

Aston Villa have a great opportunity to put their disappointing 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United behind them this weekend with their upcoming Premier League clash against Roy Hodgson’s relegation-battling Watford.

After the defeat at St James’ Park, Villa manager Steven Gerrard stated that “some changes in the team need to happen”, which suggests that the starting XI to take on the Hornets next weekend could look rather different to the one he put out against Newcastle.

With that in mind, one player who didn’t feature from the off against the Magpies but we think should be in with a shout of starting at the weekend is Leon Bailey.

After recovering from a thigh injury which has kept him out of action since their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in early December, the Jamaican – who is currently earning £85k-per-week according to Salary Sport – made his return as a substitute in the second half of the defeat against Eddie Howe’s side.
