Football community mourns former Eagles, Enyimba star, Bright Esieme
The Nigerian football community was thrown into mourning yesterday by the news of the demise of former Super Eagles defender, Bright Esieme.
According to reports, Esieme, who was a member of the late Stephen Keshi’s home-based Super Eagles that featured at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) hosted by South Africa in 2014, died after a brief illness.
A versatile defender, the left-sided player, who started his career at Bukola Babes of Abeokuta, was a member of the Enyimba team that dominated Nigerian football from 2013 to 2016 before he moved to Enugu Rangers in 2017.
At the 2014 CHAN, he played as a left wingback, right wingback and also as a holding midfielder as Nigeria ended the competition in the third position. He also played for Warri Wolves and Niger Tornadoes.
He hailed from Ukpakiri Kingdom in Abia State.
