Footbal League permutations with two rounds to play
Here is how things are shaping up across the four divisions of the Allianz Football League with two rounds to play.
Kerry look well-placed to make the league final. Jack O'Connor’s unbeaten team sit on nine points, two clear of Mayo and Armagh, and a win on Sunday night away to the Orchard County would seal their place in the decider with a game to go.
Kieran McGeeney’s side however are undefeated in their three outings at the Athletic Grounds and face Donegal away in the final round to maintain their final aspirations.
They appear to be in a head-to-head battle with Mayo, who after defeat in Tralee last Saturday, finish their group campaign with games against Tyrone and Kildare.
Donegal, on five points with two wins and two losses, will still feel they can make a push, but will need to get something from their visit to the capital this weekend and haven’t beaten Dublin in the league since 2007.
Aside from the top three, it’s all to play for. Just three points separate Donegal (5) to bottom side Dublin (2), with Monaghan, Tyrone and Kildare sandwiched in between them.
The Dubs were impressive in blitzing a passive Tyrone side in Omagh and could finish the weekend outside the relegation zone if they see off a Donegal side that looked short of confidence last time out against Monaghan.
Kildare could really do with making home advantage count against the Farney men this weekend where a loss, with a trip to face Mayo to come, could see them staring down the barrel.
The meeting of Tyrone and Mayo, a rematch of last year’s All-Ireland final with both sides coming off losses, could be the key fixture in terms of impact on both ends of the table.
The way the cards have fallen in the second tier, three teams are left competing for the top
