Footage shows out-of-control XL Bully being chased by armed cops before being shot dead following horror attack on woman

Shocking video footage is circulating showing armed police chasing an out-of-control XL Bully dog later shot dead after a horror street attack on a woman.

In the clip, which the Manchester Evening News isn't showing in full, two officers are seen following the dog up a street in Eccles, Salford. It's understood a Taser is fired before at least six gunshots are heard.

The dog - confirmed by police to have been a banned breed - is shown running about and weaving around parked cars, as the officers follow it. Two men were later arrested after 'confronting officers', GMP said. The M.E.N. understands the video footage being shared online doesn't show the full incident in its entirety.

As reported, the XL Bully dog was shot dead by police officers after attacking and injuring a woman. Police were called to Gladstone Road in Eccles, off Liverpool Road, at around 9pm on Friday night after several reports that a dog was dangerously out of control and attacking the public.

GMP said specialised officers at the scene were then unable to bring the dog back under control and had to be killed 'as the last possible option'. The force said enquiries regarding the dog's owner were ongoing and there was no update on Saturday.

One woman was injured in the attack and is still receiving treatment for her injuries, police said. Two men were also arrested after confronting officers.

Pictures showed multiple police cars stationed at the junction of Liverpool Road and Gladstone Road, with a number of police and armed officers stationed at the scene.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 9pm tonight (Friday 28 June 2024) on Gladstone Road in
